Reports coming in from the Tiyeeglow district of Bakol region in Central Somalia say Al-Shabaab vacated the area following days of intense siege by Somali government forces and AMISOM.

The Somali and AMISOM forces moved in to the town which Al-Shabaab controlled for the last 3 years but vacated today at around 8a.m local time according to eyewitnesses.

Somali government forces and AMISOM are in the last phase of a military campaign to wipe out what they called ” the enemy of Somalia” from the country.

Tiyegloow is the last town Al-Shabaab abandoned in the Bakool region and all the other four towns including the regional capital, Hudur are controlled by Somali forces.
