Omar Abdulkadir, 29 was a former Al-Shabaab fighter who defected from the group on 10th July 2014.

Omar from an unknown location told Newsday 24/7 why he defected from Al-Shabaab, the jihadist organization whose base is in Somalia.

” Al-Shabaab leader forced me to do something I couldn’t, he wants me to kill innocent people through explosions, suicide bombings, after seeing and understanding I am in the wrong path, I decided to defect from the group,” Omar said.

Al-Shabaab is waging an almost decade old war against the weak Somali government which is supported by the west.

When asked about the groups current situation and their plans, Omar said Al-Shabaab has many plans, some possible while others very difficult to do.
” Al-Shabaab has long been on the work of attacking the Kenyan Parliament, Somali presidential palace as well as the Somali Parliament, we see they executed the ones on the Somali Parliament and the presidential palace well, and I can confirm they are on the right path of launching a major attack on Kenyan Parliament,” Omar told Newsday 24/7.

Whether true or not, attacking the Kenyan Parliament by a jihadist movement will be something very difficult do so.

However, Al-Shabaab last year launched the deadly attack on the westgate shopping mall in Nairobi in which more than 70 Kenyans were killed.
